Hours of Peace and Quiet
Date of Review: Sep 30, 2005
The Bottom Line: A well enjoyed and used rocker for my infant. It is safe and calms my son. He loves this rocker.
My six week old son just loves his Fisher-Price Infant to Toddler Rocker. It was a shower present and I must admit I don't believe I would have bought this on my own.
The chair is basically a sling or hammock with a vibrator attached that you can turn on and off. The chair fabric itself is comfortable and machine washable.
The chair itself is lightweight and I move it from room to room as my schedule dictates.
The basics of the chair/rocker are:
Weight of child: up to 40 lbs.
Calming vibrations soothes my son
Three-point restraint holds baby securely in place.
Fold-out kickstand for feeding or sleeping.
Removable, machine-washable seat pad.
Three different spots to link detachable toys (pig, lamb, cow) barnyard theme.
Pull on cow for a song
Spin piggy to hear rattle
Lamb spins and rattles
Two-position recline seat - easy to operate with big red buttons on the side.
Converts from infant seat to toddler rocking chair.
A great feature is the vibration, it's a simple on/off switch at the bottom of the chair. When it is on, my son loves it and will eventually fall asleep. He can sleep for a couple of hours in his chair. That in and of itself is worth the full price of the chair!
Some things I wish were better:
The battery for the vibrator is in an awkward position, under the chair. So, I can't change it if he is in it. Also, it takes a screw driver to put in a new size D battery.
The rocker is a little bumpy, when I take take off the kick stand and rock him with my foot, it is not very smooth.
The toy bar could be closer so he could bat the toys easier. Right now, I have to prop him up a little so he can reach the toys. This should resolve itself in a month or so as he grows.
Overall - a safe and enjoyable chair for infants.
