Snooze, don't lose!

Yes! I finally got the baby to sleep! As I sit working on the computer, I have beside me my Fisher Price monitor. Although I hope my precious one will not make a peep for the next hour (dare I hope for an hour and a half?), I will hear her should she wake up needing my help.
I went into the market for a baby monitor a few months ago. I was looking for a quality product without a gargantuan price tag, and after doing some looking around I found it! The Fisher Price baby monitor is a fairly basic model. No bells and whistles, but it gets the job done.
The Fisher Price monitor comes in two parts. The first part is the base unit. You just plug it in next to the crib (out of the way of baby's grabbing hands, please!) and leave it. There is a nightlight available on the base. You just tap it to turn it on and off. The second part of the monitor is the actual listening unit. It has a belt clip and can be used with the included a/c adaptor or batteries. I just leave the a/c adaptor by my bed to use during the night and use batteries when I am wandering around during the day. It has a volume level from one to five. Even leaving it at one enables you to hear baby's call if your room is not too loud. Both parts of the monitor have four channel settings in case your neighbor owns the same kind!
I really like several things about this monitor. It is a good value for the money. It has lights on the front in case you want to see the intensity of the noise instead of listen to it. I like being able to choose whether to use batteries or the a/c adaptor. I can listen to the baby from any part of the house, the yard, or even across the street!
There are only a couple of things I have found the Fisher Price monitor to be lacking. One is that a digital volume adjuster would be better. In the middle of the night when you are returning to bed for the tenth time, it is hard to get the volume dial right where you want it. This becomes difficult during the day as well when the markings for volume and channel wear off after a couple of months of use.
