Author's Review
We got this Fisher Price Smart Cycle Learning System from Santa for our 3 year old. He turns 4 in March so we thought he was ready for this. We also thought that it may help his bike riding skills this summer.
There is some assembly required when you get this item out of the box. Its not hard to assemble and you should have it altogether in about 20 minutes or so. Make sure when you put it together that you put the correct pedal on the correct side, take extra caution. I had read review of the pedals falling off during use, I am sure this is the cause. Make sure you tighten every nut and bolt nice and snug. If your kids are like mine, they may really get into it and put some wear on this bad boy.
The game that comes with it is okay. Its too advanced for my 3 year old, but my 5 year old daughter seems to like it. She got bored of this game within 2 weeks, so its time for another. Games for this system are not cheap, I believe they are around $30.
There is no AC adapter for this system. This seems more and more common these days, I think the toy and battery companies are in on it. The bad part about this item being battery powered is that your younger children may flip the on switch when not in use and then the batteries will be dead when the older child wants to use it. This has happened to me twice.......ugh.
This toy will help teach your children, letters, colors, shapes, words, spelling and other stuff. It will get your kids heart rate up, which is always good. This is a great toy for winter, but I think during the summer you need to have your child ride their real bike instead of sitting inside using this thing.
