Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass: Take My Breath Away

by   soupcraze ,  Mar 3, 2003
Pros: Great Versatile Sound, Great Vintage Look, High Build Quality, Etc...
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: The Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass is a piece of artwork. There aren't many basses like it out there. Try it out for yourself, and see how you like it!
Review: The Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass is what got me to start playing bass. It all started one day when I was spending the afternoon with my family. We were driving around and saw a garage sale. So we stopped by, and I was bored... I've been to garage...

Fender Deluxe custom shop. Nothing to compare.

by   meatex z ,  May 12, 2002
Pros: look, sound, quality, playability
Cons: price
The Bottom Line: Get one if you can. Jazz bass won't get any better than this.
Review: I'm really sad. From 1995 I've been playing ESP Standard 5-string J-bass and it's a really good instrument. I had a chance to play about a dozen of different Fender Jazzes, but all of them were not as good as my ESP. I was very snobish about my bass and...

Great upgrade to great bass!

by   fatbastard32 ,  Nov 13, 2000
Pros: Great electronics, finish, case
Cons: None that I know of.
Review: Just a quick look at the ash top and you know this one is a winner. Take a bass like the J-bass, and fix all of its problems and this is what you get. Plenty of punch with its pickups without all of the single-coil hiss. Active tone controls (3 way)...

Fender American Jazz Bass

by   jimmyjammer_a ,  Dec 24, 2002
Pros: Quality Product from Fender USA.
Cons: This Bass is not cheap.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this for the Advanced Bassist of the Jazz Musician's, because nothing beats a Fender©.
Review: This bass is a High Quality Bass, I have learned in my troubles that you cannot always sacrifice Sound for the Cost. The Fender American Jazz Bass has a number of features which help make it one of the best basses known to man. If you are in a school...

Fender has Still got It!

by   brhsr50 ,  Aug 8, 2000
Pros: Good Old Jazz Bass Sound
Cons: Kind of Pricey
Review: This new incarnation of the famous Fender Jazz bass is a monster! It combines all that originally made Fender the premier name in electric basses - Look, feel, playability, and of course THE SOUND ! I get the feeling while playing this axe that I used to...

by   311rules ,  Nov 14, 2000
Pros: good sounding
Cons: 3 knobs
Review: Its the best bass that fender makes. I like the style of it i used to play one i now play ibanez 5 strings. The pickups are great sounding for a great tone. The action is great only every 6 months i would suggest getting the action fixed. If you want a...

Great intermediate, rock music bass

by   parkavery ,  Jan 6, 2001
Pros: Good hard-rock sound
Cons: Not suited well to fingerstyle playing
Review: I have been playing a 4-string, bottom-of-the-jar bass for about 5 years now, and I'm currently in the process of upgrading to a much nicer 5-string model. I've played probably almost 2 dozen 5-string basses so far, and the Fender American Deluxe Jazz V...

Decent all around bass

by   mdellarc ,  Mar 14, 2001
Pros: Good sound
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Great Starter Bass
Review: In terms of sound the Jazz Bass Deluxe, has a rather centrist sound. No real character to speak of, but that's exactly what I was looking for. Granted, the Dimarzios don't help in getting to a vintage sound, but the stock pickups were even more bland....
