I purchased one of these shredders over a year ago for my office. Since then it has been removed from it's base, mounted on a board and probably abused. I left for a year and when I came back it's still shredding up a storm. Granted, the on/off sensor doesn't seem to work anymore so it runs all the time when turned on and there is something else wrong with it so you have to put the paper in at an angle for it to grab them and shred.
But I'll be darned if it doesn't still shred away, quickly I might add. The Fellowes Powershred 320 is a strip-cut shredder meaning that you get long strips of paper. If you want added security you should go for a cross-cut shredder which turns your documents into confetti. I still feel that the strip-cut is secure enough for most applications. This shredder seems durable even if abused. It will take paperclips and staples that other shredders choke on.
All in all it's a quality machine. Fellowes seem to make good quality products that will not cost you an arm and a leg. I forget what we paid for this one but it was middle of the road for comprable shredders.
