Family Fun is Fun For the Whole Family!

While sitting in the doctors office a couple of days ago, a magazine that I have never seen before caught my eye. I picked it up and began to peruse its pages. The magazine is called Family Fun and it is geared toward families with young to adolescent aged children.

Like many magazines published in this "computer age", it has a website. The address is simply, www.familyfun.com

Since I could find only one copy in the office, this review is based solely from the one I was able to read. Although, I intend to browse through the racks at my public library to see if they may have other copies.

Inside Family Fun, I found a section on the best travel destinations for families, a cooking section, that had many simple recipes and a few pages were devoted to easy crafts that you may enjoy doing with your kids. One of which was a chime bracelet made from a velcro strip, yarn and sea shells. A portion of the magazine reviewed childrens books, music, videos and computer software.

My personal favorite page is where you will find tips, ideas and advice written in from other parents. One mother wrote about a really neat idea she had for a sandbox. Like me, she lives in a neighborhood that has many cats running loose. She didn't feel comfortable having a standard sandbox. Instead, she bought a big plastic wheel barrow and filled it with sand. This way she could move it into the garage at night. Also, since it is mobile, she could place it anywhere and keep her kids comfortable in the shade.
I thought this was a great idea!

The cover story in this issue was Themed Birthday Parties for kids. Besides giving ideas on activities, invitations and themes, they showed some REALLY creative cupcakes!

For instance, one of the themes for little girls was "Tea Party", so they turned cupcakes into tea kettles and tea cups with frosting and candy canes. As far as cupcakes go, they looked really realistic!

Overall, I was impressed with this magazine. I intend to try and read other issues. The cover price is $2.99 an issue. For $14.95 you can become a subscriber and receive 10 issues a year.

If Epinions raises their Income share I might just subscribe!
