Author's Review
Before I owned the Krups Toaster oven with Convection Cooking, I had a sinking feeling that all toaster ovens would break easily and often. In fact, my yearly ritual was to return my broken toaster to Bed Bath and Beyond and check out the latest model on sale, hoping for better luck.
I finally bit the bullet and spent more than usual for this Krups model, figuring that at least it looked roomy, had convection, and was more sturdy looking than most. Well, my prince has come, and it's been working without a glitch for over two years now!
What I Love about my KRUPS Toaster Oven:
Simple Controls: Just enough buttons guarantee that you won't spend a lot of time making toast or programming your toaster oven. The choices are: Bake, Broil, Convection Bake or Defrost. You simply choose a cooking mode, adjust the time or temperature with the + or - keys, and press "Start". No need for an advanced degree...
Convection Bake: As you would expect, convection cooks things much quicker, so snack items and frozen meals reheat evenly and speedily in 15-30 minutes.
Toast: Hard to believe, but this is exactly what you get when you put bread, bagels, or muffins on the rack and press toast. Perhaps most amazing in my mind is the consistency of doneness time after time. You can choose the toast level by increasing/decreasing the time, and the results are identical each and every time you make toast. This has not been the case with other toasters in my experience. Not to get too technical, but the toaster has "quartz cycling" technology which turns the bottom and top elements off periodically to ensure that both sides are done evenly. Kudos to the designers!
Broil & Defrost: Both work beautifully, although defrost takes about 20-30 minutes for frozen bread and rolls.
Adjustable Racks: You can move the rack up or down and invert it for four total positions. Very handy and easy to adjust.
Durability & Safety: After more than two years, the toaster still looks and operates like new. The crumb tray slides out easily for cleaning --which is not always the case in toasters. Also, since all functions are timed, the toaster oven automatically turns itself off (no need to wonder if the appliance is still "on" as you get on a plane!)
Roomy: Six slices of toast or bagel halves get evenly toasted, every time, NO exceptions!
What I don't like: Nothing so far...
Need I say more? If you're looking for a gem of a toaster which functions flawlessly and endures (way) past the warranty period, I recommend the Krups Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking-- Happy Toasting!!
