The Excitement of ExciteBike

The Bottom Line: A DECENT N64 game. Not to great. I would recommend renting it before you buy it.
GRAPHICS:
Great graphics. The game has pretty cool graphics! Almost everything is lifelike (except the crowds). The crowds are just a bunch or different colors and pixels put together. The crashes aren't that realistic- when you hit the wall or the boundries or whatever at full speed, you "fall" off your bike all crippled up. I then loads a "new" you on your "new" bike and you can continue racing.
SOUND:
The sound effects aren't that bad, they're nothing to complain about. You can hear the sound of the engine while riding. The announcer gets pretty annoying after a while. It begins to repeat everything over and over again. "Oh! [Racer Name] eats dirt!" (my personal favorite).
PLAYING THE GAME:
It's pretty simple to control. If you have other experience with N64 racing games, you shouldn't have a problem wiht this. You can accelerate, brake, turbo (speeds you up), and use the "R" and "L" buttons to help turning.
OPTIONS:
There are two important types of games to play- season and exhibition. You can only play three racing seasons (Bronze, Silver, or Gold), which each have 5 courses (a total of 15 courses). There's a Track Editor, but you don't have much space to build on. With the Track Editor, you can use turns, straight tracks, ramps, etc. One of the most exciting things about the game is unlocking the "Special Courses." The following courses can be unlocked:
1. Dessert- where you race to each campfire and ride over it (put it out)
2. Stunt track- where you attempt tricks off huge ramps and bumps. There are many possible tricks but it's hard to catch enough air. You have only 2 minutes to complete as many tricks as you can.
3. Original excitebike- original nintendo game (pretty boring)!
4. Soccer- Ride into a huge soccer ball and hit it into your opponent's goal.
5. Hill Climb- You must climb an almost vertical hill. Make it to the top without falling or losing control and sliding all the way back down.
6. And Excitebike 3D- You can play the original course in 3d mode.
NOTE: WHEN I RATE "LEARNING CURVE," IT DEOSN'T INCLUDE ALL THE TRICKS. IF I INCLUDED THE TRICKS, IT WOULD'VE BEEN A FOUR.
