need a big gate for a short amount of time?

Like many children, mine LOVED to do "laps" around the downstairs. Well fine, except that when I"m cooking in the kitchen, our "open" floor plan becomes something of a safety hazard. Obviously I didn't want to install a permanent gate in the kitchen, and the opening I needed to block was fairly wide. This gate fit the bill perfectly.

By "twisting" the ends, you can expand it to a full five feet (sixty inches). The gate it is held in place by tension and is really quite strong. The four "feet" are protected by very thick rubber ends, so in my case the cabinet and the island I used to create a "blockade" were not marred at all. The ends twist down as short as 23" which is convenient for storage or for smaller areas, like doorways, that require only a temporary fix.

Because it is so very lighweight, you can easily throw it in the trunk to make visits to the "outside" (read non-baby proofed) areas of the world ever more comfortable. I have used it in areas where I could only get "contact" with the two upper feet (like in a stairwell) and it did just fine for the night.
