Handy, especially during the first few months
Date of Review: Jul 29, 2008
The Bottom Line: Good, inexpensive, versatile carrier. You'll be surprised how handy it is.
I purchased this carrier as an emergency when we forgot to pack our Infantino 6-in-1 Rider on a trip when our son was still a small infant. He really enjoyed being carried face-in when he was a newborn, and I was almost in tears when I discovered I'd forgotten to pack the Infantino (darn hormones). Anyway, Daddy and I took a quick trip to Babies R Us and spent $20 for the Snugli. It worked out well!
We actually liked the straps and attachment method on the Snugli better than the Infantino 6-in-1. Much more intuitive and easier on the back and shoulders. I used the Snugli while doing housework, taking my son to the store, etc. My husband used it a lot, too -- more often, in fact, than he used the Infantino (the straps on that carrier cut into his shoulders and were generally harder to position correctly).
I do wish that, as is the case with the Infantino 6-in-1, the Snugli allowed you to transfer the baby from being attached to you to being harnessed in the infant car seat without being taken out of the Snugli. That was VERY handy when my son was a newborn and I had to make a trip to the grocery store when he had fallen asleep in the Infantino.
As my son got older, we switched him to front-facing, which he also got a kick out of! Now that he's 8 months old and 22 lbs, though, we're looking to switch to a Kelty KIDS backpack carrier -- otherwise we'll both need a chiropractor!
