The Buick of strollers
Date of Review: Dec 5, 2000
I need to begin this by stating that this is the second stroller we have owned. This stroller was sent to us by the Evenflo factory after our first stroller fell apart in five months. This stroller came to us WITHOUT the car seat, which didn't matter because we have a car seat that would fit it.
First, this stroller fits any Evenflo On My Way car seat. This means that you don't have to buy the travel system to get a stroller and a car seat system. This was the way to go for us. You can purchase the stroller for $100 at Penny's and the On My Way position right car seat at Toys R Us for $59. This means that if you purchase everything by itself you are only spending $159. To purchase the travel system, the cheapest I have seen it is $179. Thus, purchase the products separately.
Next, this stroller is easy to assemble. I really am no genius when it comes to putting these things together. My husband usually does that, but I put this stroller together and had no problems with it. It was VERY easy.
This stroller is a little heavier than some. The stroller we had before was very lightweight and easy to heft into the trunk, this isn't so easy. It doesn't take a heavy weight to lift it, but if you just had a c-section you may have problems with this stroller.
This stroller fits in the trunk but it is somewhat bulky. It will take up a whole half of the trunk. It is tall even when it is folded up so you will be unable to put anything on top of it in the trunk.
Along with this bulkiness, it is a bear to use in the mall. The regular hall between stores is fine, but it is a big stroller. You don't realize how big it is until you enter your favorite department store and realize that the stroller will not fit between the racks of clothing.
This stroller has a three point harness that looks sturdy. My son is at the stage where he likes to lean forward and with the last stroller I feared him falling out. I don't fear that with this stroller. He can lean forward to chew on the bar in front of him (something he loves to do) without falling out.
This stroller has large wheels and front wheel locks. This makes it ideal for walking outside on sidewalks without ruining the stroller (which is what happened to our last one). The front locks help to keep the wheels in line on bumps or grass.
This stroller has suspension. Yes, I said suspension. This is great outside on rough terrain. This is also great if you have a son like mine whole loves to bounce. You can go down the mall bouncing him if you like. He will get great enjoyment out of it.
You can make a cocoon out of the sun visors. What I mean by this is that when you put the car seat on the stroller and pull the sun visor over, then you pull the sun visor of the stroller out as well your baby will have a nice warm cocoon. This is great if you live in northern regions and you worry about the wind on your baby. Just put the two sun visors together and your baby will be protected.
The sun visor on the stroller actually keeps the sun out of your baby's face. This may seem like a given, but the last stroller we had did not do this. We had to pin a blanket to the front and pull it over the baby's face when ever we walked. We don't have to do this with this stroller.
The basket in the bottom is HUGE. You can easily fit two coats, a purse and a couple of shopping bags down there. There are also little side pockets on the basket to put smaller stuff.
The seat has more than two positions. This means that your baby doesn't have to just lie down or sit up. This is great! Our son has a variety of positions he likes to sit in and this stroller allows that to happen.
Pros:
1. Suspension.
2. Larger tires for rough terrain.
3. Front castors lock.
4. Large basket.
5. Comfortable seat.
6. Can attach any Evenflo On My Way car seat.
7. Sun visor actually keeps sun out of babies face.
8. Cup holders.
9. Easy to fold up.
10. Seat has many positions.
Cons:
1. Bulky in trunk and in mall.
2. Heavier than some.
Overall:
I like this stroller. I wish we had this stroller from the beginning. If you are looking for a stroller check this one out.
