Evenflo Carrier: A pain in the neck
Date of Review: Jan 10, 2000
I purchased this soft carrier for my son a few years ago. I purchased it at a resale shop and I am glad I didn't pay full price for it! I used it maybe 15 times in all and it was not a pleasant experience.
First of all, it is not made for short, petite people like myself. No matter how much I adjusted it, my son still hung far down on my torso. This caused pain in my back and neck whenever I used it.
Secondly, it is not the best carrier for a small infant. I would recommend this carrier only for babies who can sit up and hold their head up well.
Third, it is very hard to get the baby in or out of the carrier. I found it easier to put my son in the carrier FIRST and then get someone to help buckle the carrier around me. It takes 2 people to do it this way.
Of course, the heavier the baby gets, the more it hurts your back and neck! I did not use this carrier until my son was about 4-5 months old because it did not provide much support for his head and neck. By then, he was 20 pounds and almost getting too heavy to carry. The leg holes also rubbed against his legs, chaffing them, if he was wearing shorts.
The carrier is convenient if you are busy and need your hands free while holding your baby. It is also great for shopping when you don't feel like dragging along a stroller. I preferred to put my son in the carrier at the grocery store rather than using the provided car seats on the baskets.
The carrier is very convenient and helpful, but do not expect convenience to come free! I suffered many backaches while wearing this carrier. I would most likely not recommend it to anyone who would be using it frequently.
