Pros: Great historical entertainment, very deep, high replay value, easy modification, multiple ways to play
Cons: May put off those who are used to RTS or action games. Some Bugs.
The Bottom Line: With its high replay value, easy modification, and sheer size, it is worth every penny. If you are looking for an epic historical game, this is the one for you.
Review: When I first read about Europa Universalis II back in December 2001, I thought there was no way that it could be as good as some of the reviewers were claiming. How could a game simulate the events of 400 years and do it well?
But I was... |

Pros: Huge scope, easy to edit, intuitive interface, any music you want, unlimited possibilities.
Cons: Occasional crashes, steep learning curve.
The Bottom Line: The Balance of Power for 400 years of Europe is open to you with plesent graphics, adjustable sound, and nearly unlimited gameplay. Slight flaws, but truely a gem.
Review: Not About Eye or Ear Candy:
Europa Universalis II may look much like its predecessor, but there's only so much you can do to improve on something so good, interface wise. As plain as it might look, it really is rich in colour (which you... |

Pros: an epic game, on the strategic level, with historical background.
Cons: Can get too complicated sometimes and even get boring after hours of playing
The Bottom Line: it's just a great game for strategy lovers
Review: Europe Universals is an intriguing game, not only does it have great strategy thinking that is combined in it, it also gives you an extremely good historically correct view of the world at the ages of 1419-1820. This game published by Paradox (and their ...

Pros: A real challenge Fantastic detail in politics, economics, production, military. Replay potential very high
Cons: Still buggy (ver 1.09 patched) Have to surrender to exit. Long loading time.
The Bottom Line: Buy it- A great, challenging game, with a depth of information that I've never seen before. Great replay value with many countries, scenarios to play.
Review: Europa Universalis covers the period from 1492-1792, in the format of Real-Time Strategy (RTS). You take the helm of a major European nation and compete with your rivals for trading rights, provinces, and conquests in the unexplored world.

Pros: Excellent diplomatic and economic model
Cons: Dense Manual (120 pages) that is difficult to read, audio is rather sparse
The Bottom Line: Hands down the best game in its niche; though complex to learn, it offers a realistic look at all aspects of European nation building between 1492-1799.
Review: There are few computer games that allow players to guide countries from the 1492 through to the French Revolution. While Imperialism II, released several years back, captured the colonization / domination aspect, merging it with a strong economic...

Pros: Historical, political, economic, and social detail. Easy to start playing.
Cons: Poor manual. Quirky.
The Bottom Line: Although this game could use some patches its a great game. It will keep you playing till the sun rises and then some.
Review: Europa Universalis is a realtime strategy game that challenges you to lead your European nation through various historical scenarios or over a 300 year period from 1492 to 1792. The overall concept if you are playing the Grand Campaign is similar to Age...

Pros: Historically Accurate! Real Time!
Cons: Long and Terrible Manual! Some Bugs!
The Bottom Line: Great teaching tool for European History!
Purchase it if you are looking for a long, hard, historically accurate strategy game.
Review: First-Off this game is not for everybody. If you are looking for the next Real Time, Mission Based, Quick Clicking Game, then stay away. If you are looking for a political, commercial, and military simulation of the world around 1492, then purchase the...

Pros: You get a free subscription to Computer Games Magazine.
Cons: This is only a patch of the previous game.
The Bottom Line: Europa Universalis II is the most expensive game patch in the history of PC gaming.
Review: Strategy First came onto the gaming scene a few years ago with a few really bad titles. Ever since then, its games have been improving, and sometimes actually contained a few original concepts. The company became the fastest growing publisher of...

Perfect concept, terrible execution |
|||
|
Pros: Great concept, extreme level of historical accuracy.
Cons: Interface, very poor manual, exuberant hardware requirements.
The Bottom Line: Once again, a game with a great concept was released before the hardware requirements and interface were refined.
Review: Waiting for the game
Europa Universalis has been creating considerable buzz on European gaming message boards and news pages. However, it entered the US market almost unnoticed, immediately placing among second-tier games with a starting... |
