Product Review

Beware of Wire Racks

by   rjohnsonxx00 ,   Mar 5, 2008

Pros:  Handsome looking. Fits underneath cabinets. Has an accessible crumb tray.

Cons:  When you pull wire racks forward, they can tilt forward and dump hot food.

The Bottom Line:  Buyer beware of design defects and stonewall attitude at customer service.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

Toaster is roomy and accommodates four pieces of toast, bagels, etc.

There is one problem--the Wire Racks. This is a design flaw. When you pull out the wire rack just a bit to retrieve food, it tilts forward and dumps whatever you are toasting, broiling onto your hand.

I had 4 contacts with the Euro-Pro people, the last one being not productive. Twice they sent me the same racks that I already had. Seems that they no longer manufacture the rack pictured in the manual.

I was told the following " you should not be pulling the rack out and are not using the toaster properly--you should only pull out the tray on top of the rack."

This would not allow you to toast anything as you don't use a tray to toast. When I said that this was a design flaw, the response was "that's your opinion". My not so friendly, snotty representative did concede that other people had also called about this and this was their "opinion".

I have had DeLonghi and Black and Decker toaster/ovens and this was NEVER a problem. There are channels inside these toasters which don't allow the racks to tilt forward.
