The Batteries WILL LAST if you follow my instructions. The charger is too powerful and this kills the batteries. This is why everyone has Bad Reviews for Shark cordless vacs. You MUST NOT leave it in charger too long. You will love this vac if you charge it right!!
This vacuum actually works very very well. The motorized head is actually 'motorized' and runs off the battery power. There are no other cordless vacs that I'm aware of like this. Most others simply use the suction power to power the head which is useless.
It easily picks up animal hair from couches. Great for cleaning the car.
It does not work as well on thicker carpeting since it is really only a rechargeable vac and you need the power of a larger, plug in vac to really work well on thick carpeting. The power brush has a harder time sweeping out the debris caught more deeply in thick carpet. This is to be expected.

Features: 1. Detachable motorized brush head which does a good job of picking up most hair and dirt. This head is very helpful for vacuuming a car since car carpeting is more difficult to remove dirt from. 2 Crevice tool which is just the right length for most jobs. 3. Brush tool which has nice stiff bristles which is good for upholstery and car carpeting. Many other vacs have soft bristled brushes which are almost useless. All 3 attachments are very easily plugged into the nozzle of the vac.
The Charger base is as good as most others and can be wall mounted. It holds the vac very securely.
The filter is a very durable material and is easily rinsed out and dries quickly. New ones can be bought anywhere the vac is sold and are about $7 for 3. Depending on your use a filter should last at least 3 months if you clean it well.
The handle has a rubber grip which makes it very easy to hold.
The nozzle opening which does the 'sucking up', is a little larger than most other vacs which is great for larger things.

Con: I wish it came with a hose attachment for reaching into small spaces such as found in vehicles.


One Warning--
most people who buy this end up destroying the batteries without realizing it. Shark cordless vacs end up with many bad reviews because of this. The vacuum is very well made and the best one I've had however, they give you a charger which is too powerful for the batteries. The batteries are 1500 maH and the charger is 200maH. What this means is that you MUST NOT follow the instructions and charge it for 20 Hours! That will drastically shorten the battery life.
DO NOT KEEP IT IN THE CHARGER BASE AT ALL TIMES!! You will kill the batteries!

Charging Times: 9 hrs. NO MORE when it's fully drained.
3-4 hrs. is good after using it for about 10 min. total.
you MUST allow it to become fully drained every few uses and then fully charge it (9hrs.) Just let it sit with the button in the ON position until it completely runs down and stops. Then fully charge it. Do this for the first 10 times you use the vac. Don't put it back on the charger until you fully drain it. this is called 'cycling' a battery pack. This will bring the batteries up to their full potential. It is called 'forming' the battery pack as well. All NiCd and NiMH rechargeable battery operated devices must be treated this way for you to get the most from them. The batteries will degrade much more quickly if you don't do this. You will be more pleased with this vac and perhaps with other Shark vacs if you do this since they seem to sell vacs with cheap batteries and chargers which are not properly matched to the batteries.
