I love the new model!

I have had a Eureka Boss Cordless for about 5 years now and the thing still runs. I just bought a new one and am happy with the changes Eureka has made. In general this is a great little appliance. It is perfect for small messes made by kids, and perfect for telling the same kids to clean up the mess themselves. My children love using this vac because it is lightweight and not too noisy. Where it really helps me is in my laundry room. We have 3 cats and the litter box is in there. Every morning I vacuum up bits of kitty litter (we use the clumping kind). This little vac is always ready to go and doesn't have to be plugged in.

The old model was wall-mounted and recharged on a cradle that you plugged in. This was fine except as the battery got old, there was no way to replace it. I called Eureka and they told me newer models have a replaceable, rechargeable battery. If my new Boss lasts as long as my old one did, I can replace the battery when it is no longer powerful enough. The new model seems to have better suction and has a rotating brush which can be turned off for floor use. The whole thing separates from the handle, becoming Eureka's version of the Dustbuster. This newer model can be hung on the wall and recharged by plugging the cradle in, or you can remove the battery and recharge it. Removing the battery couldn't be easier -- it is smooth plastic with tiny contacts on bottom and pops right in and out.

For $40 this thing can't be beat. I had to search for it, though -- Target was the only store near me that had the cordless version, which is what I wanted. This is a perfect appliance for quick cleanups, stairs, crumbs and typical household messes.
