Eureka 4700 Maxima Bagless Upright Vacuum

This is my second Eureka 4700A Maxima.  I live with 2 cats and a dog, all very big hair-balls.  My vacuum performed great until I had it two and a half years.  Then it began to smell like something burning and was losing power.  I took it apart, as much as I could, inspected the belt and cleaned the brushes, and it didn't help, so I think there may be hair in the motor.  I purchased another and my rugs are clean again.  For the price, you can't beat it.  I paid $59.

I read many reviews before I decided to buy the Eureka Maxima.  There were more people who loved the vacuum than hated it, so I thought I'd try it.  I'm pleased with it, for the most part.  It's very powerful for such a small and lightweight vacuum.

The features I like are the fact that the canister and filter can be washed, the lightweight design, and the bagless canister.  The new canister opens at the bottom, so you just release the catch and poof! away goes the dirt and hair!

I think the new one I just purchased may have a design flaw on the part that attaches the canister to the body of the vacuum.  It sometimes doesn't attach properly and the canister falls off.  I didn't have this problem with the one I purchased in 2006.

I will probably buy a third Maxima when the new one dies.
