Author's Review
For Christmas my uncle got my husband a Eton Sound 100 am/fm radio. We don't get to see my uncle often, so his presents are always a total surprise. Eton was a brand that we had never heard of before and didn't know what to expect. I have to say that we are both very impressed by this radio. The sound is amazing and this product is easy to use for those like me who find it hard to understand and work some electronic items.
When we opened the box of the Eton Sound 100 we quickly noticed that our model was different than the grey one illustrated on the box. The one we got was a bright cherry red! Though surprised, we were happy with the color. The Eton is cased in hard plastic. Included in the box with the radio itself is an a/c adapter cord and a small slim remote! I was excited to see the remote.
The Eton Sound 100 is small in size. It is only about 4 1/2 inches tall by about 8 1/2 inches wide by about 5 inches in length from front to back. This is the perfect little radio for use where you don't have a whole lot of room for a huge stereo. This is a great shelf sitting radio.
On the front of the Eton Sound 100 you will notice the circular speaker in gray. The volume dial is colored in gray also. Beside the volume dial is the power button. Above the volume dial is a display screen that glows a cool blue when the product is on. Between the screen and and speaker is a line of red buttons on the including time set, mode, memory, and 2 buttons for tuning/set. On the top of the Eton Sound 100 are three buttons for use when the radio is being used as an alarm. These are alarm, snooze and sleep.
The Eton Sound 100 is really easy to use. To turn the radio on just plug in the power cord on the back of the radio's a/c adapter and plug the other side into the wall. You can also use 2 AA batteries if you choose. Turn the power button on, and your are ready to go! You can then start tuning for your own listening preferences. You can do a manual tuning or let the radio auto tune. I am surprised by some of the stations that I was able to get in, because most times they will not come in on my car radio in my area. You can even choose your 10 favorite stations to save to memory that way you can get to what you want to hear in no time at all.
Setting the time and alarm functions on the radio is pretty self explainatory. I figured it out in no time, but there is a instruction manual included with the directions is english, french and spanish.
The best feature of this radio is the remote. You can use all the functions of the system with this little remote including the alarm settings. You can even hit snooze on the remote and get those extra important moments of rest in before you have to get up.
The sound from this radio is HIGH quality. The sound is crisp and clean and accurate. For the size of the speaker the quality definitely can't be beat. When I say in the title of this review, "Are you sure this isn't a Bose?", I truly mean that. You get the same quality sound for less than half the price here. While I am certainly no expert when it comes to electronics or radios, it doesn't take one to know that this is a high quality radio. On the back of the Eton Sound 100 there is a adapter so you can plug in your cd player or mp3 to listen to your music as well.
I am so grateful to my uncle for choosing this wonderful christmas gift for my husband. This is a quality radio that our whole family will enjoy for a long time to come. I have to be honest, when I got on epinions to write my review and saw the pricing on this product my jaw dropped a little. Not because the Eton Sound 100 isn't worth it, but I would have never guessed! I would recommend the Eton Sound 100 to anyone who is looking for an enjoyable listening experience.
