I delight in the feminine, floral, foodie combo!
Date of Review: May 28, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you are a fan of vanilla based perfumes and also enjoy a bit of floral bouquet then this is one to try.
Darling hubby bought it for me or at least he tried. Instead, when I opened my pretty pink parcel of birthday presents, a bottle of Pleasures Intense greeted me. Oops! Wrong one. My sweetheart went with me a few days later to return it to Boscov s department store. We got the right one, Pleasures Delight, and I was tickled.
My initial experience with Pleasures Delight was through one of the multiple fragrance inserts in the Boscov s ads. Of course, I sniff them all. I immediately liked Pleasures Delight and longed for a trial vial. I suppose I may have mentioned the perfume a few times because hubby actually remembered it (sort of). I have to confess, I have never purchased a moderately expensive bottle of perfume for myself. Store brands, Avon, and so forth I once wore but my last four good perfumes (Spark, Realities, and Ralph Lauren Hot) were all gifts from my loving husband.
Estee Lauder s Pleasures Delight is my favorite. It s a feminine, floral, foodie combination that I absolutely adore. Envision delicate smelling lilies, darling peonies, and a couple of freesias growing in marshmallow pots, mulched with a mixture of rose petals and lemon grass, and watered with a light vanilla, caramel, and strawberry syrup and you ll sort of have the idea. It s sweet and dreamy.
I wish I could have a scratch and sniff section to my review. I don t know how to precisely capture the magnificent fragrance. If you add a bean or two of vanilla, drop in a few petals of lightly scented rose and peony petals to a small container of sugar, then let it sit for a few days before drizzling warm caramel on top and a quick sprinkling of Pomegranate juice then you ll be close to the flavor. It is delicious.
I glanced at the Estee Lauder website for more help in relating the perfume s notes. This is how they describe it:
Life is sweet.
Treat yourself to something delicious...a playful side of pleasures that's simply irresistible.
This floral confection blends notes of juicy Pomegranate, whipped Strawberry Meringue and tempting Caramel with a sprinkling of Sugared Rose Petals, dewy Freesia, White Peony and Fresh Greens.
How can you resist?
Top Notes: Juicy Pomegranate, fresh Greens and dewy Freesia combine with the fruity taste of whipped Strawberry Meringue to delight the senses.
Middle Notes: A heavenly bouquet of flowers enriches the heart. Soft petals of White Peony and Lily blend with fresh Muguet and tender Heliotrope to create a delectable floral confection.
Base Notes: Warm, delicately sweetened notes of Sugared Rose Petals, tempting Caramel, fluffy Marshmallow and Vanilla meld together, forming the delicious dry down. Touches of Patchouli balance the creamy gourmand feeling.
It smells light, warm, and sweet. I just wish it would last longer. The scent seems to fade within a few hours. It s such a shame because at first application it comes on strong. Too bad it doesn t have the stamina a name brand perfume should possess. At $45 for an1.7oz bottle of Eau de of Parfum Spray I would like it to give me at least eight hours of continuous fragrance.
Pleasures Delight by Estee Lauder comes in a simple but aesthetically pleasing, peachy-pink tinged, glass bottle. It s cylindrical shape and bulbous metal cap makes it easy to use. The vaporisateur applies a good sized dousing of parfum. I typically dispense 2-3 sprays per application. I find this gives me more than enough scent without drenching my pulse points with the yummy aroma.
If I would like to marinate myself in the Pleasures Delight scent, I could also purchase the shower gel and body lotion. But with a salty price tag of $38.50 for the 8.4oz body lotion and $27.50 for the 5oz shower gel I ll pass. Buying a larger bottle of the parfum is a consideration, though at $65 for a 3.4oz container there s not a whole lot for me to consider. I ll happily use my smaller bottle with a big smile of gratitude for my hubby s loving gesture.
And boy do I grin while wearing Pleasures Delight. I just adore the fragrance. I never get any headaches from it as I can from highly floral perfumes. I like that it has a pretty smell to it along with the enticing aroma of warm, baked goodies. I'm also relieved that my sensitive skin isn't bothered by the parfum. I appreciate too how convenient it is to purchase. The parfum can be found at Estee Lauder counters in various department stores as well as online.
Oh and hubby likes the parfum on me too. I m glad. It s so much more enjoyable when we both like a particular scent. On the first time I wore Pleasures Delight, we took turns trying to adequately relate the fragrance.
Hubby remarked, It s like butter cream frosting with flowers.
Good job, honey. I think it reminds me of Love s Baby Soft, all grown up, calmer, with a womanly sophistication, much less powder, more floral notes, and with the timeless warmth and goodness of vanilla and caramel , I replied.
He raised his eyebrows, and with half frown, half smile said, You re weird.
Oh well, at least he was chivalrous enough to buy the perfume for me
