Epson Stylus Photo RX580 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I got this printer over a year ago to replace our 10 year old HP printer. We don t buy often so I wanted to make sure I was getting a printer that had all the features we would want and need now and in the future. This is it!

I never had a scanner before so I have been using the program that comes with this software and it is working fine for me. Easy to use and understand. I had no problems at all installing this printer.

I especially like the stand alone features. I have printed photos straight from memory cards and edited them on the printers screen. It makes great copies and excellent photo copies without using the computer. You can also do some basic editing of your photos from the printer such as reduce red eye, change the image to sepia or black and white, crop and make multiple copies and various sized pictures or size your image to fit your paper. I have not tried printing photo greeting cards using the printer alone. I have printed directly onto a CD and it turned out fine though the tray for the CD can be a bit tricky to line up the arrows.

On the high settings I cannot tell the difference between the photos the printer prints and those from the store.

This does take 6 separate ink cartridges (2 blue, 2 red, 1 yellow and black) and having purchased it at the end of 2006 I have just replaced the 2nd yellow and black cartridge and the rest are still the 1st cartridges that I installed after the ones that came with it ran out (and I installed the high capacity variety). Only my light blue and light magenta are below the ? way mark and I have done a fair amount of color printing/copying.

It does take a minute to warm up and be ready to print and it is anything but quiet. But once it gets printing it goes pretty fast.

I do find that black print isn t a crisp or bold but it still does a good job.
