Having always been a Canon fan, I was shaky on buying an Epson for the CD printing feature. I found it to be a fast and easy to use printer that gave me totally acceptable results. Printing CD's is a snap and a really cool feature! I'd buy it again.
ALL inkjet printers drink ink so I bypass the high ink price by using 3d party ink which gives great results on CD's, which I bought the printer for in the first place.
If you are going to print pictures, get a dedicated printer to use just for pictures, use OEM ink and use the printer for nothing else. Printers are cheap enough, thats why I have 3.
