Once we decided we were going to use rechargeable batteries we started looking around a little closer at some choices. We, in part, selected Energizer because we trusted the name, felt they made a superior product, and finally because we had an Energizer recharging unit and wanted to use the same company.
We knew the size AA batteries were going to be the biggest purchase, as that's the size we seem to use the most. We paid around $15.00 for this pack. Many of our children's toys, as well as digital cameras and recorders ask for this particular size of battery. We wanted in particular this NiMH battery because we had read on-line that it was superior to its line. We knew that the digital items in particular were notorious for eating up battery life, and we wanted the best rechargeable we felt we could buy. We were more thoughtful about this purchase, as opposed to other battery purchases, because this size is used most frequently in the house.
These AA batteries are the same size as other typical AA batteries, they just come in a green pictured packaging. Looking for the words "rechargeable" underneath the product usually helps, as batteries are usually lined up on walls or displays all together. Ours came sealed in a pack on cardboard backing.
Our
Energizer Rechargeable AA NiMH Batteries work really, really well. We've been able to keep the original pack that we purchased for a year now. We use a slow trickle type recharger (this makes for a longer charge time but we read that it should make the rechargeable batteries not wear out to quickly) -- I'd say having the same pack for a year now means we are doing something right!
It depends on the item that we use the batteries in, but I'd say overall the batteries fare well. My son's digital camera and the like I notice us having to change the batteries weekly. When we are on vacations or longer trips we notice that some times we can get through the entire trip on the one set of batteries and others we need to have a back up set. We've had to purchase more than just this pack, because there are so many things in the house that take this particular size. We currently own 2 packs of these Energizers and more recently I've purchased a pack of the rechargeable Rayovacs. The Rayovacs were about $5.00 cheaper than the Energizers and so far we don't feel they are lasting as long.
Overall we really trust the Energizer name to make a superior, long lasting battery and these rechargeables are no exception. We include them often with gifts we are giving, as a lot of nieces and nephews ask for toys that need batteries. Both my sister in law's families have rechargeable batteries, and I figure if there home is anything like mine then they will need an extra set!
