A cheap, basic charger

I figured that since this came with some Energizer batteries, it would be a good charger. Well - not quite.

After a couple of years of use, this charger is having some problems. The tray that slides down isn't terribly sturdy. Mine now has stress cracks from just putting in and taking out the batteries, and the batteries don't feel very sturdy in there anymore because the tray "gives" some now.

If you want a really good charger, do a search here for the BC-900 charger. It's a bit more expensive, but it will bring out the most in your NiMH batteries and they will likely last longer as a result.

Contrary to a previous post, this does also charge triple-A's. There are two little black tabs where the tray slides up and meets the bulk of the charger. Those tabs flip down and act as spacers. And you don't need 4 batteries to charge. I have charged a pair of cells before with no problems.

Since the charge amperage cannot be adjusted, this is a slow charger and nothing more. The higher the capacity of the battery, the longer it takes. I have had some 2500mAh batteries take over 36 hours to charge. To top off some batteries that still have a decent charge, it usually takes about 8 hours. Definitely one of those "overnight" chargers and sometimes even "weekend".
