Great camera, corrupt manufacturer

Ok, so I am torn between two cameras. One is the Elura 90 and the other is by JVC. I spend many hours deliberating about which one to buy and at the last minute, I am alerted to the fact that Canon had a $50 rebate on the Elura if I purchased by the end of September. Well, this was the straw that broke the back of JVC and so I purchased the Elura.

So I get it no problem from the online reseller and it appears to work fine and so I immediately fill out the rebate form, attaching all the required items that Canon lists that has to be included in order to get the $50 back.

One of the three items that had to be included in the rebate reply was (and this is word for word off the rebate form): "A copy of the Canon limited warranty card with product name and serial number from inside the product box." Now what does this say to you? It says to me to make a photo copy of the card and include it with the other materials - which I did. So 2 weeks later I get a letter stating that I have not included the product serial number along with the other materials. Well, did the person opening up the envelope lose it or are they told to send out this same reply in the hope that the poor customer on the other end (me) will get fed up and not resend the paperwork in.

So me being me, I recopied the warranty card along with all the other materials I had previously sent including the reply letter from Canon and sent them back.

2 weeks later I get another letter with basically no information in it to help me other than to say that I did not include the serial number so I am not eligible for the rebate.

Well this is complete crap since I did send in the warranty card that had the serial number on it.

So, given that the card said that I had 10 more days to comply with the offer, I went one step further and sent them the ORIGINAL warranty card with serial number - not a copy, as well as the actual printed serial number on the box. This puts me at risk of course since I now dont have original paperwork but I am still to this day waiting for a reply.

Canon, if this is your tactic to pretend to have a rebate program and are doing everything you can to prevent your customers from receiving the benefit that you are publishing, then I have to give you a big round of applause for being one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with and I will do everything I can to let the world know about this experience.
