I tried Splendor by Elizabeth Arden by snatching it out of my best friends Expedition. I asked her what it was.."A new Perfume I bought yesterday," and in an instant it was mine. To this day 2 years later half a bottle still sits on my vanity.
Splendor is a heavier fragrance than I usually wear, so I reserve it for special occasions. I have seen many ads where they recommend it for "evening" or "romantic occasions." They are absolutely correct. Since it isn't a "light scent" it is better left for evening use.
Splendor was introduced in 1998. It is definitely a perfume of the 90's and you'll have a difficult time finding it at any department store. If you want to try this out, look at a discount store, or a middle of the road retail outlet like JcPennys. Although mine was purchased at Dillards for retail price.
Splendor features scents of freesia, magnolia, champagne, sweetpea, amber, rosewood, sandalwood, musk, & waterlilly.
The Notes!
Top Notes:
Sweetpea, Waterlilly, & Freesia.
Middle Notes:
Magnolia, Champagne, & Musk
Base Notes:
Amber, Sandalwood, & Rosewood.
The scents I find most defining would be the sandalwood (which I adore but not for day use)! Amber, and the magnolia.
This fragrance is not for those who faint at the least touch of scent. It is very overpowering if used incorrectly.
The bottle is a round like cylinder shape with straight grooves all the way to the tapered top. The lid is simplistic yet classic, a clear slim tube base with a round silver top. It slides off and reveals a pump type spray.
ONE spritz on any of your pulse points is more than enough. I recommend taking it with you if you think you would need more (such as a late night out). Anymore fragrance, such as on clothing, would be very overpowering and ruin the delicate yet powerful notes. Do not over do.
I recommend this perfume for women, not young women but those that are more refined. It is perfect for those special occasions, such as society functions and fundraisers it definitely will grab anyone's attention.
It is a wonderful flavor because it does not change or turn due to pH, basically it is the same scent in the bottle as it is on your wrist of neck.
Expect to pay 39.00-49.00 for this perfume in 2 sizes, 2.5 ounces and 4.2 ounces. And if you really like it, buy the bigger bottle. You will be amazed at how long it lasts, like I said I have had mine for over 2 years now and am just getting to the middle of the bottle.
Its a must have for any women who likes a sophisticated fragrance and has occasions where she can adorn it.
