Author's Review

You may have read other magazines with a countless number of advertisments and things that are just there for the magazine to make money. In some of these other magazines the magazine itself is very thin and has barely any reviews, news, or previews.

But in EGM you'll not find anything like that.

Electronic Gaming Monthly is a gaming magazine for anyone who loves to play videogames.EGM prides itself on having covered all systems in each and every issue. If your looking for Nintendo 64,Playstation,Playstation 2,Dreamcast,Handhelds, or Arcade coverage you will find it all in one single magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly.

Below I have listed different sections of the magazine which I believe are the greatest parts of the magazine and will hopefully let you know a little bit more about this magazine and whether or not you would like to check it out.

Letters to the editor

Ahh.... yes, this is the best part of any magazine.Where the readers can write in asking questions they have about games, news, rumors, and more.Every month around three or four new pages or letters to the editors are posted and answered in this magazine.

And a great thing about writing to the editors is that you win something if your letter is chosen as the letter of the month.

Winning the letter of the month will win you most importantly 15 minutes of fame with your name and location printed in the magazine next to your letter.

But fame is not all you get by winning the letter of the month contest, you will also get fortune.Fame and fortune, something everyone wants.

In the current issue the gaming accesory you can win is an Interact controller. The controller you win is a barracuda if you have a Playstation, an Alloy Arcade Stick is you have a Dreamcast, or a Sharkpad Pro 64 if you have an Nintendo 64.

Press Start

Press Start is the section of the magazine that has a lot of awesome news from around the globe from Japan to the United States this section is a definite favorite of mine.

Some of the hot topics in the current issue I'm holding are on Final Fantasy 9.With the two pages of news comes a lot of great screenshots of the game(something this magazine is very good at).

In addition this is the first magazine I have seen with screen shots and information about Final Fantasy nine, ten, and eleven. So this proves to you that Electronic Gaming Monthly is always the first to know and the best out there.

With the Press Start section there is also some news tidbits with small amount of information on games that are in development of are currently rumored to going into development.

Next like most gaming magazine this on comes with a "coming soon" page with a long list of games coming out within the next few months.

Hsu and Chan

Every month read about the wacky adventures of Hsu (pronounced shoe) and Chan in a monthly comic strip that is always hilarious to read.

Previews Section

EGM always has the newest games that have been announced and always have a ton of information on these games while other gaming magazines can barley fit a paragraph of information.

In depth previews with fantastic crisp and clear screenshots are some of the things you'll find in this section.

The preview section is color coded and arranged by gaming console so you don't have to go searching for the game your interested in reading about. In addition to this magazines excellent categorizing of the previews it also has a index at the begining of the previews section with the game, system, and the page that it is on.No more searching for that game I want to check out!

Review Crew

Meet the review team, see pictures, read their bio, and what games their into this month!

Review Section

Each review is rated from zero to ten on the games overall visuals, sound, ingenuity, and replay value. With each game review there are four different reviewers which write a nice little paragraph with their thoughts on the game. Each person usually has a different view on the game so you'll hear to pro's and the con's of the game.

Furthermore, there is information about who published and developed the game. Also the review tells you how many players can play in the game, what accessories it supports (jump pack anyone?) the best and worst features of it, and a website link that contains more information.

Tricks of the Trade

The place everyone checks out (especially me). This section offers much more pages of game tips and cheats than other gaming magazines.Gameshark codes can also be found in the tricks of the trade section (some other gaming magazines don't have gameshark codes, that's why I love EGM).

If your interested in sending some codes into the gaming magazine, you can! They provide a email address and post office address for you to send in your tips and tricks. And if it's good enough they will publish it and put your name and location next to your review. Some months they offer prizes for the trick of the month but I am not sure if they do that anymore.

Overall - A
