Probably one of the best expansions
Date of Review: Feb 13, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you like the sims2, you'll like this expansion!
Of corse, when you walk into a store, there isn't always people coming up to you, pressuring you to buy something. And you usually don't sit in frount of the same object forever, until a bar above your head fills up and you can purchase it. But in the sims2 Open for Buisness, that's how it works.
Being a large sims2 fan, I bought this game not because it had the word buisness on it, but because it has the words "sims2" on it. But I am of now, quite happy I bought it. Being a thirteen year-old girl, I don't know a whole lot about wholesale, stock, and all that other weird buisness related stuff. So, unlike other sims2 expansions like "pets" and "seasons", I actually learned from this game, and got a lot from it. Sometimes when I'm sitting at dinner and my Mom starts talking about her buisness, I will say "Hey, I know what that is, its in the sims2!". But even if your not like me, I'm sure you'll love this game. The one thing I really liked about this game was all the new objects. Now my sims can make toys?! And I can either sell them or just use them? How fun is that? There are so many buisnesses to create, including resteraunts, furniture stores, toy stores, flower shops, electronics stores selling robots--its endless, because you can sell just about every object in the sims2. I also really liked some of the new music this axpansion added. The only thing I didn't really liked was that the buisnesses cost A LOT of money, and I often have to pull out the motherlode cheat. In the new skills area there are talent badges, which show what important business things you are good at. Each time you use that skill, for example, work the cash register, you get closer to earning the next badge which range from bronze to gold in each catagory. Some talent badges include Register, Toy making, Flower arranging, Robot Building, Restocking, Cosmotology, Sales, and more. I like the talent badges, but when your starting a business it's kind of hard to find people that have the ones you need. To start a business, you either start a home business or purchase a community lot. You need shelves, tables or counters to put your items on, then you mark them for sale with a certain tool you gain when you make a business. People will come, and when they see something they may like a bar appears over their head. Sometimes, the bar fills by itself, like it would in real life (even though in real life there is no "bar"), but usually a sim has to come up and persuede the costomer to the point that they want to buy the item. If they take it, it will be out of stock and someone else has to replace it. That's how it works regularly in the sims2 sales world. When an employee makes a costomer happy, they will gain a star. These stars help your business gain the next level. The levels go from 0-10.
New Objects? Tons! With the toy making bench, sims can make bricks with faces, kites, toy fire trucks, sprinklers, twirling spinning wobbling thing, and a lot more. This is great to buy if you love spoiling your kids. There is a robot bench and a flower arranging stand as well. Display shelves and cases are for objects to be sold. I like the shelves and stuff because they come in bright, fun colors that make me happy :)). The furniture theme is this cute fairytale set and some modern stuff as well. There are a lot of new paintings and statues including some very large gorillas (who wouldn't love that?). Makeover chairs allow sims to give other sims makeovers (sometimes they go wrong, which is funny). This expansion has brilliant new objects, seriously. rating:*****
New Interactions?Well, lots of new sales interactions including "dazzle" or "hard sell" which are both pretty funny. I think water balloon fights might come with this expansion, but please understand if it doesn't, I have a lot of expansions and it's hard to keep track! There are a few minor others as well.rating:***
New careers?Well, owning a business is a career, and being an employee is a career as well. Employees cannot be promoted, but if they improve talent badges they can get raises. rating:**
New sim types? Now, this one isn't actually a sim, but it's very close! Servos are a type of robot your sim can build with a gold Robot building talent badge. Servos, when brought to life, help around the house, and can interact with sims in the normal way, even woohoo(I don't want to know how that works...)! Servos come in male and female. The only difference in that the female has a bow, and their formal outfits are different. Servos have less needs than the average sim, which is nice. I like servos, but I think they are a little bland because they only have one look.rating:****
anything new with aspirations? There are a few new lifetime aspirations, including "own five top level businesses". Also, if you don't already have Nightlife and/or University, you get the lifetime aspirations, influence meter, and turn-ons that come with them in Open for Business, which is totally awesome, because I don't have Nightlife. rating:*****
Anything new in Create-a-sim?Oh I love the new stuff. Apron outfits with different logos for employees. Gorillas and deep Sea Diving costumes, it's funny and bright! Lots of new Hairdo's, just a lot of new, fun stuff.rating:****
Anything new with lots or Build Mode?Well, now sims can own community lots, and you can save and exit in community lots now, too. This saves a lot of time and is pleasurable. With build mode, you can now have split level houses, and awings. Elevators are included now! Elevators are cute and take up less room than stairs it seems. You can even have sims Woohoo in elevators :0. Plus, you can now lock doors! (take that, you stupid sims who hang out in my family's bathroom, gosh!)rating:*****
New Music? The music in this game includes this weird country/techno thing that I personally think is annoying and ugly. However, it also has some cute shopping style music for stereos which I do like. rating:***
Rating of this game and why:This game is rated T for teen, just like the original. Sims get naked in it, even though it is burred out, there is sex in this game, even though you don't actually SEE anything, and sims die, which I suppose considered violence. (can't rate a rating..)
Price:I got this game at Best Buy for $20. It was a good deal, because I love this game.
Did you like this game?Yes, I did! It was really fun and exciting. Great game with great new stuff. Overall rating:*****
