Ectaco Partner EC800 Dictionary / Translator

I had terrible experience with this shoddy product. I'm studying Chinese and bought the dictionnary to facilitate my studies. The sound quality is terrible. Not even my Chinese friends can understand a word that comes out of it.
The product is very heavy. I was able to charge the battery once just enough to test the sound quality and could not charge it again. The CD that accompanies the product arrived cracked. Ectaco has the worst return policy ever. They have one assigned phone number for RMAs that is not answered, it just rings.. They do not acknowledge e-mails asking for RMA. You have to insist to speak to consumer service through the corporate phone number. Consumer service will tell you that they cannot handle orders placed on the internet. It's an eternal vicious circle with them -- when out of frustration you call corporate number again, they tell you that seven days have elapsed and that you can't return the product without paying a hefty fine.
