Hurrah for capitalism

by   erivan79 ,  Sep 21, 2001
Pros: Beautifully crafted satire, clear analysis backed up with great examples
Cons: None, unless you happen to disagree with him
The Bottom Line: Intelligent, below the belt humor that rarely misses its mark.
Review: I knew I was a P.J. O'Rourke fan when I read his book "Age and Guile Beat Youth, Innocence, and a Bad Haircut." I relate to the follies of a liberal youth.

O'Rourke's Latest Must-Read!

by   perturber ,  Nov 19, 1999
Pros: The author, his views, his humor
Cons: -

Pros: Great all around fun
Cons: Some chapters are slightly outdated
Review: This is a really funny book. O’Rourke travels the world and offers his witty and sarcastic observations on various economic realties. O’Rourke may admit to be a beginner in the field of economics and does not provide any spellbinding revelations, but he...

The usual O'Rourke fare

by   kmennie ,  Sep 16, 1999
Pros: Same old same old
Cons: Same old same old
Review: Most O'Rourke fans (and enemies) of my acquaintance had the same opinion on this one: worth reading, but far from a favourite. He's political (as usual), witty (as usual), but the old formula is getting a little tired.

His chapters on...
