Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use, state of the art. Use your laptop.
Cons: Laptop is too heavy, too big for pilots, use with Garmin C320
The Bottom Line: For a Rocket Scientist, this is the best way to get into GPS technology.
Review: Update June 1, 2007: I have bought various GPS units, and can now compare them. I got a Garmin Street Pilot C320 at Frys-Anaheim for $200. It is probably the easiest GPS there is to use. It is easy to set up and use. There is a learning curve (like doing ...

Pros: Price. Amazing GPS capability. Outstanding customer service department. Good online forums and knowledge base.
Cons: User interface is unlike most Windows products. Lack of "how-to" documentation.
The Bottom Line: Based on its use on a three-day trip, this is a powerful and extremely useful product that is well supported and well worth its price.
Review: This is the bundle with the 2006 Street Atlas software. There seem to have been significant improvements over the 2005 software, which is still being sold in various outlets in June, 2006. I've been interested in GPS since I first heard about it, but ...

Pros: Voice commands/directions, hardware is solid, GPS integration with software is flawless
Cons: Unconventional interface requires longer learning curve, route planning is difficult
The Bottom Line: You should be wary of this product if you are not willing to put up with unconventional software. But the price is right, and the hardware is fantastic.
Review: I had been considering a GPS system for a couple years. I am an avowed map fanatic, and I love looking at maps and knowing where I am in the world. So I purchased this package, harboring a little bit of doubt, since I had really hoped to find a GPS ...

Pros: Price, size, precision, accuracy and just plain cool to have. Great customer service.
Cons: Software interface, poor documentation, map data inaccuracies.
The Bottom Line: This is a cool toy to have. For the price you cant go wrong.
Review: While searching for the best price on my new notebook computer, I happened onto the Delorme GPS Earthmate. The price of $99 dollars seemed too good to be true. I have gambled with a lot more so I ordered it, along with my computer, from PC Mall. ...

Pros: Fast start, solid performance, Nice voice prompts, accurate
Cons: Less intuitive for starters and no support to update maps.
The Bottom Line: Great value for money. Fast and accurate but requires some learning curve.
Review: Okay.. I had been contemplating buying the GPS for 3/4 months and checked out numerous sites and reviews for many GPS solutions. One of the thing I was kinda hoping to find in the solution was that it should be able to work with both laptop and PDA. Most ...

Pros: Inexpensive, small size, SA sofware included if you need it.
Cons: Time to acquire, requires work to get to work with MapPoint 2004/Netstumbler.
The Bottom Line: For the cost, its a great first time GPS device for your computer. Will work with 3rd party software such as MP2004 & Netstumbler, with modifications.
Review: I wanted to get a GPS device for my new Tablet PC. I didnt really need it, but wanted something low cost to play around with to start. I decided on the Delorme for about $99 after MIR and dont regret it. I have MapPoint 2004 and heard of compatibly ...

Pros: Good value, voice commands, very good detail on map.
Cons: Fails to meet the "2 to 5 meter" accuracy on the GPS. Software mapping errors.
The Bottom Line: It's okay, just don't believe everything you read on the box.
Review: I had the opportunity to compare the Earthmate heads up against the Navman (which uses Rand McNally software). Both products worked well, although it was more of challeng to load the Navman. The Rand McNally software seemed superior in accuracy. The ...
