by   tim2v ,  Sep 29, 2004
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use, state of the art. Use your laptop.

The Bottom Line: For a Rocket Scientist, this is the best way to get into GPS technology.
Review: Update June 1, 2007: I have bought various GPS units, and can now compare them. I got a Garmin Street Pilot C320 at Frys-Anaheim for $200. It is probably the easiest GPS there is to use. It is easy to set up and use. There is a learning curve (like doing ...

by   lsander ,  Jun 7, 2006
Pros: Price. Amazing GPS capability. Outstanding customer service department. Good online forums and knowledge base.
Cons: User interface is unlike most Windows products. Lack of "how-to" documentation.
The Bottom Line: Based on its use on a three-day trip, this is a powerful and extremely useful product that is well supported and well worth its price.
Review: This is the bundle with the 2006 Street Atlas software. There seem to have been significant improvements over the 2005 software, which is still being sold in various outlets in June, 2006. I've been interested in GPS since I first heard about it, but ...

by   barfooz ,  Sep 15, 2004
Pros: Voice commands/directions, hardware is solid, GPS integration with software is flawless
Cons: Unconventional interface requires longer learning curve, route planning is difficult
The Bottom Line: You should be wary of this product if you are not willing to put up with unconventional software. But the price is right, and the hardware is fantastic.

Pros: Good value, voice commands, very good detail on map.
Cons: Fails to meet the "2 to 5 meter" accuracy on the GPS. Software mapping errors.
The Bottom Line: It's okay, just don't believe everything you read on the box.
Review: I had the opportunity to compare the Earthmate heads up against the Navman (which uses Rand McNally software). Both products worked well, although it was more of challeng to load the Navman. The Rand McNally software seemed superior in accuracy. The ...
