Author's Review
Ever since I heard "Woo-Hah" on MTV three years ago, I've been a fan of Busta Rhymes and his innotive style of rap music. His music still has a gangsta edge, with the heavy swearing and indirect references to life on the street. Busta's first album was a treat, with numerous awesome songs. This album is Busta's third, following "When Disaster Strikes," and it continues to put forth Busta's pessimistic view on the way things are.
While this album packed with many good songs, it's definitely not as impressive as his first effort. That said, I think it does surpass his second effort quite nicely. This album comes after an almost two year time lag after his second album, and the time taken into the production of this one shows in the final product. The beats are again cutting edge, and he has enlisted the help of some big name guys to jump in on the action in this release.
This release has 19 tracks, almost all of them full-length tracks. On the whole, Busta seems to have incorporated a few more musical genres into this CD, while the quality of his lyrics is a bit lower than his first release. The hottest tracks are Tear Da Roof Off, Against All Odds, Gimme Some More, and What's it gonna be. Busta seems to be a bit more egotistical in this album, but his talk about sex and women is actually quite funny to hear. All in all, Busta Rhymes continues to present his explosive lyrics to spanking new beats, keeping the listener interested. While some of the writing could have used some help, Busta is definitely not lacking when it comes to creating interesting music. Keep it up, Busta!!
