ESPN the Magazine, is a Joke!
Date of Review: Apr 19, 2000
I hate to say this but ESPN could do a lot better than this. I believe that they are #1, when it comes to up to the minute sports new and highlights. But it is really to bad that the magazine is nothing compared to the network it is named after. I really wish I never got that subscription to ESPN magazine because it is defiantly not worth it. I have been so disappointed with this magazine that I refuse to even look at it the past couple of months.
If you want a magazine that is 50% of advertisements(I'm serious I flipped through one of my last issues, and 65 out of 136 pages were ads. How's that for to the minute sports new), 30% full page photos of athletes, and the final 20% of the magazine there is actually some writing. I don't look at a sports magazine to ooohhh and aahhhh at the bodies and complexions of athletes. I want team analysis, columns, player bios(that don't include pictures of men dressing up like woman, Ricky Williams), great writing, and some class. When a new sport starts like baseball, basketball, or football I want more than a half a page of analysis to describe the upcoming season. For baseball, it showed lineup cards, and a paragraph describing what to expect(not happy at all with this). You would expect better from one of the classiest networks on television.
If you are looking for a magazine with the qualities that I listed above, don't waste your time with this magazine, instead go with Sporting News. I believe that is the top magazine when it comes to those things.
But if you want that new fleece pull-over just like your favorite anchors(Stuart Scott and Dan Patrick) then you better call to order this magazine. :)
