Does "slim" mean "stick vac"?
Date of Review: Apr 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: Overall I would recommend this vacuum. It has superior suction power to other vacuums. Though I would suggest the regular sized Dyson.
The good news is the Dyson Slim has the same great suction power as the regular sized Dyson. It picks up even the finest dust on bare floors which is what sold me on Dyson originally. It goes over my carpets a lot easier than my regular size Dyson (without straining my back or shoulders).
I guess I should have been prepared for what a slim entails. I am left to believe it is Dyson s version of a stick vac. It is narrower (which the name entails) so it can get into tighter spaces. When it is in operation it only moves around on it s front wheels. This makes it very wobbly and harder to control. When it is stood up straight there is a piece that comes down to keep it from tipping over which is nice.
The whole construction of the vacuum seem a lot cheaper than it s larger counterpart. And given the fact that one is made up of plastic, that is saying a lot. I do like that the brush on off switch is at your fingertips rather than a turn knob on the floor that you have to bend over to reach.
If this is in fact Dyson s version of a stick vac, that is not reflected in the price. I still paid $400 for this vacuum. However I will not be returning it as Dyson has superior suction power to any other brand of vacuum I have used thus far.
