YES! It's worth the money!!!

The Bottom Line: If you have carpet, furniture and/or pets buy it!! It does a great job.
We purchased our Dyson Animal DC17 yesterday. It took my husband about 15 minutes to assemble it, the instructions are not very helpful. We vacuumed our living room and was shocked, to say the least, of the amount of dirt, dust, pet hair and who knows what else was in the canister. We have spent the majority of the day today vacuuming and this is what we have decided.
1. The vacuum is great! Well worth the money.
2. The wand is fantastic, with just a quick release we are able to reach all corners in the house including the ceiling. No need to shut off vacuum and mess with attaching hoses like with my previous vacuum.
3. Dyson included several attachments, but I feel the major ones ex: duster, crevis tool and stiff bristle brush are the ones that are needed and not included. I have found these on the internet to buy, but after paying $549 for my vac I find it hard to pay at least $29.99 for the additional attachments.
4. The animal is quieter than all of my other vacs but still has a shrill noise when using the attachments.
5. The air seems to be much fresher after using the vacuum. No "dusty" smell left in the house after running the vacuum like with my old vacuum cleaner.
To summarize my opinion I would recommend the DC 17 to anyone who has carpet through out their house and especially if they have pets. We have a Pomeranian and the amount of hair I have vacuumed up is almost scary.
