Dragonsdawn

I listened to the abridged version of Dragonsdawn on audio cassette. Although I prefer actually reading the book or listening to the unabridged recording of a book, this version was very good. It gives the person listening very good information on Pern's history. It is compact yet concise.

You learn about the very beginnings of Pern and it's colonists. From the first settlements to the first falling of the dreaded thread.

You learn about the wonderful fire lizards, who discovered them and brought them to live with the colonists and become such assets to their lives.

If you are a dedicated reader or listener of Anne McCaffrey's other books in the dragon series, you may want to listen to this shortened version of the book. It gives you enough of the background history of Pern and it's people without making it too boring.

Adrienne Barbeau narrates this version and does a wonderful job. I enjoyed listening to it very much, and I think you will too.
