Pros: fire lizards, dragons, Ann McCaffrey
Cons: Pern books are never long enough.
The Bottom Line: This is a must read for Pern fans. It tells the history and the whys Pern.
Review: Anne McCaffrey gives us Pern's history with this book. If you have never read any of the Pern books I would recommend starting here (even though it wasn't the first).

Pros: Extremely good for both beginning and experienced Pern readers.
Cons: Is quite lengthy and some parts are graphic. Also, some parts are better understood if the reader has read the other books in the series.
Review: Dragonsdawn is a historical addition to the entire Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. Although this title was written near the end of the long series, it is by far one of the most important for comprehending the minor as well as major details of all Pern...

Cons: ... so there ain't too many cons, are there?
The Bottom Line: A fine novel in a fine series. Well worth a look.
Review: Sometimes I just dont know what to write. Case in point: my current review of Dragonsdawn. I finished the book weeks ago, and have procrastinated until now the task of putting my thoughts down on screen. Im not sure whether this is ...

Pros: Gives readers needed background on Pern
Cons: Some boring spots
Review: This book is not the first in the series, but it should have been; however, I don't belive Anne McCaffrey realized at the time she wrote "Dragonflight,"( the first in the series, which was originally written as a short story), that she would...

Pros: Compact and concise
Cons: You may want more detailed information
Review: I listened to the abridged version of Dragonsdawn on audio cassette. Although I prefer actually reading the book or listening to the unabridged recording of a book, this version was very good. It gives the person listening very good information on Pern's...
