A Role Made For Pacino

This has to be one of the best mob movies ever. Not only does it show some sweet gunplay scenes, but it also shows a different side to gangsters than most movies show. This movie has taken Pacino out of his usual roles as the main guy with everything together, to the low guy on the totem pole who isn't very good at his job and is kept around because he's always been a good friend. I mean one scene even has Pacino trying to open a parking meter by hitting it over and over with a hammer as others trying to conduct business around him. This is from the guy who played the totally cool main man in The Godfather for crying out loud. Yet he pulls it off so well, that it absolutely makes the movie.

And if having Al Pacino wasn't enough, it also stars Johnny Depp who plays an FBI agent who infiltrates the mob. He plays a real smooth character who figures out that he can use Lefty, Pacino's character, to get him close enough to the main guys so that he can finger them and put them away. Unfortunately he quickly rises in the Mafia underworld and starts to become one of them. By this time it's either stay in and risk getting nailed as a rat or get out and spell ultimate doom for Lefty. It's a truly touching movie that always gets me close to tears every time I see it.

I would recommend this movie to any mob movie lovers or anyone who enjoys a good drama. The language isn't as bad as some other mob films and there isn't a whole lot of blood so I honestly think any adult would like this film. With great acting and an awesome storyline, based off true events, you just can't go wrong.
