Pros:
Good looking fast truck with lots of extras.

The truck is to light to handle the massive engine under the hood.

The 2002 Dodge Dakota 5.9L RT is great looking, handles good, has a great full size bed and the interior was well designed to fulfill the needs of the driver. Downside is that the 5.9L V8 will get roughly 17mph on the freeway and a lot less if your sitting in city traffic. That being the case expect to fill the thirsty 15-gallon tank weekly if you commute. As for drivability, the Dodge Dakota 5.9L RT has more high end torque then rear body weight, so often times this truck can spin-out at the drop of a hat, if you try to get off the line quickly. Being a rear wheel drive 5.9L V8 in wet weather means you have to really watch how much pressure you apply to the gas petal, unless you like getting a little sideways once in awhile. The interior of the Dodge Dakota is very functional, gauges are well lit, and full controls for the stereo are on the steering wheel allowing the drive to remain focused on the task of driving. The center console has been configured to hold a wealth of CD's has a location for the garage door opener, as well as, a built in plug designed of charging your cell phone that has a cut out so that you don't pinch the cord with the console lid closed when you phone is charging. The back sitting is good for short trips or small kids, but the only real extended use is for storage, which the Dakota has plenty of. The back seats can be flipped up to find several storage compartments for all you traveling needs. In short, if it rains where you live, and you often find the roads to be wet, then this might not be the truck for you. If you enjoy speed and power, and want the benefits of a full size truck, then I highly recommend the 2002 Dodge Dakota 5.9 V8.
