Author's Review
I purchased this car from a brochure before the dealer even had one in stock in late August early September of 1998. The reason I just had to have this car was safety rating, reliability, economy and comfort.
This car arrived at my dealer end of October just as I ordered it. Took it for a test drive, loved and bought it right there.
In my job, I travel a lot - driving everywhere I go. I maintained impeccable maintenance schedules on this car. Oil changes every 3,000 miles, Tranny serviced every 15,000 miles, air filter at 10,000. The brakes on this car lasted to about 50,000 miles. At around 60,000 miles I had to replace a leaky radiator cap. The tires lasted to 100,000 and were never rotated. At 100,000 miles I did a complete tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor). At around 140,000 miles I had to replace a speed sensor on the transmission. Around 150,000 I had to replace the throttle position sensor.
That is literally all I had done to the car! It ran and drove like new up until I was hit head on from a drunk driver doing about 70 mph and I was going about 10 mph. He was driving a larger car than I was, 99 Intrepid. I walked away from the accident with a fractured wrist, nothing else, not even cuts or scratches. The guy that hit me was rushed to the ER with a ruptured splean, broken jaw and several major face lacerations. My car was still towable. The Intrepid was mangled so bad they had to lift it in the air and set it on a flatbed truck.
How is that for safety!?
