My Avenger

I have owned my V6 1998 Avenger since 1999. Plenty of trips from Ct to Fl and back. The car is hot and turns some heads. The interior is nice although it's really a two person car. The back seat is mainly for very small people or storage. The trunk is not that big. I have a box with subs in it and I don't have much more room for anything else.
The bad points are as follows. The sensors are always going bad. The oxygen sensor, speed sensors, ect. That seems to be the weak point to the car. The oxygen sensor was the first to go a week after I bought it. Other sensors about one every year has gone since then. They are pretty cheap to fix range from $30 to $80 a piece. Break pads go fast last about a year. (not my driving I've heard this is common with the avenger) It's a bit noisy when on the highway, it's not that bad. The turning radius on this car sucks. You get used to it though. The car door handle just snapped right off in my hand one day. After I did some research I found out that this happens. Unfortunatly the replacement handle only comes in the color white so you have to paint it yourself.
Also I have had lots out work done on the drivers side hub/ bearing, ball joints, and lateral arm assembly. I have this worked on three times since I have had the car. The Avenger had a few recalls. The ball joints being one of them. The problem is that the dealership just "repairs" them instead of replacing them. So about a year later the start wear again and there is more to fix. Dodge only covers fixing the recall problem once even if it's because of the faulty ball joints.
That is all I have had gone wrong with my car. Honestly the engine is good as well as the transmission. I have 155,000 miles on the car now. It has never once not started even in the cold months. (Except for when one of the sensors went, but it actually started and then stalled) I have driven straight 16 hours to Florida, the last time when the car had 125,000 miles on it, and it never gave me a problem. It has never over heated. For the money I have put in to it, it has been very worth it. It holds it's value better then I ever expected it to.
Overall I love my car and even though its time to buy a new car I will miss this one very much. I'm actually thinking of keeping it for a second car because I don't want to part with it.
