Styled to a Fault
Date of Review: Jul 27, 2008
I recently drove a Dodge Charger on a 500 mile trip. It was a rental car, and since I'd never driven one before I accepted it. The car had 12,000 miles on the odometer so I assume the engine, tires, etc., were all broken in.
I am average height (5'-11"), but the interior of this car feels odd to me. The roof line is styled low, and this results in poor visibility, even directly out the front windshield. My neck actually developed a strain from constantly ducking my head to get a better view of road signs and traffic lights.
The basic controls also had quirks. For example, the turn signal lever is shorter than the lever for the cruise control. Whenever I'd flip the turn signal for a left turn, I always snagged the cruise control instead. This is just bad design, period.
Fit and finish were average and the interior was reasonably quiet at highway speeds. The car was OK on this trip, but I will never rent one again.
