Product Review

impossible to use remotely

by   iamjames ,   Jun 10, 2005

Pros:  view only on local network, wonderful tech support if you have all dlink hardware

Cons:  doesn't work as described, no support if you don't use all dlink hardware

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I have two of these, the DCS-900 and at work we're using the wireless version. Both of them are impossible to get to work over the internet. Over the network is easy, but trying to view it remotely is difficult unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Good luck calling d-link, they wont help because every tiny bit of our equipment isn't d-link so they said "too bad" ISP won't help because, cf course, it's not their equipment.

I'd avoid these entirely, there has to be a better solution out there.

UPDATE: Summer 2007

well it's been a few years since I first wrote this review and I finally did hook up a dlink router. Still have problems recognizing the camera on the network, but dlink tech support was great. They helped me until they determined the camera was defective, and gave me a RMA number to return it even though the camera is several years old.
