Author's Review
I purchased Winnie the Pooh Sing a Song with Pooh Bear over a year ago for my now five-year old son. After the first viewing my now six-year old son waited around for the bonus footage by Gopher on how to draw Pooh Bear. He made some great drawings following the steps provided. The video runs for a total of thirty-two minutes and contains twelve songs with the entire gaggle of friends in The Hundred Acre Wood.
This video can be purchased at Toys R US and Kmart or found online at amazon.com for $13.99. Winnie the Pooh Sing a Song with Pooh Bear begins like all the other feature presentations brought by Disney, many previews for other Winnie the Pooh videos, Spot videos, Disney Channel, software and the other sing along videos. The video starts inside a replica of Christopher Robins bedroom showing all the characters in stuffed form and a butterfly flying around them and than landing on a Winnie the Pooh book on the table.
Deep in The Hundred Acre Wood, where Christopher Robin plays, youll find the enchanted neighborhood of Christopher Robins childhood days. This is sung twice with the characters bouncing around doing what they do best. Pooh steps on the words displayed on the screen to the song while bees buzz around. We begin the story with Pooh at home wondering what it is he forgot to remember. Instead he decides to follow a bee for his breakfast. The narrator informs us that this is a typical once upon a time day in The Hundred Acre Wood.
Tigger comes along wanting to croon his tune and so he bounces around with scenes being shown from other videos while Tigger tells us The Wonderful thing about Tiggers in his dance routine. Pooh says, I must find my song because a song cant sing by itself. Pooh heads over to Kanga and Roos house for some help in finding his song. They in turn sing their hopping song that is one of the best tunes in Winnie the Pooh Sing a Song with Pooh Bear.
Next comes Tigger with Owl who tells a story for Pooh to listen and possibly learn something, although Tigger doubts Pooh will learn anything. Try a little something new and High and Low are the songs they perform in hopes of Pooh finding his song. Christopher Robin sings a song while holding on to a balloon, the same scene as one of the videos as well. Rabbit and Eeyore add their picks with one of the songs being Heffalumps and Woozles this is the best song and animation on the video and we have seen this on other videos too. They use this song for dream sequences for Pooh when he is scared of those animals. Also shown is when Rabbit brings Pooh a honey pot in the middle of the night, calling him a Silly Old Bear.
Pooh is now with Eeyore trying to locate his song when Rabbit, Tigger, Piglet and than Gopher, Kanga and Roo arrive and they all are exhausted from searching for the song that is Poohs. Tigger than says that Pooh had the song all along since he had it with him. I am the song and the song is me! This feeling inside me is really my song. They realize they all have their own tune and continue dancing around The Hundred Acre Wood. I cant say Oh Bother, when I sing my song!
Gopher than announces that the story is not over just yet because we learn how to draw Pooh Bear. The tools needed are paper, pencil, eraser, colored pencils or crayons. The demonstration is really easy to do and the finished product is something a fan can save along with the video for listening to the songs when the mood strikes. You also get three honey pot points on the back of the video for refund offers. Check out this and other videos online at http://www.DisneyVideosgo.com. This is also in closed caption with hi-fi stereo. A Walt Disney Home Video, TV IS OK Productions with the music by Andrew Bellings plus the work of Disney Animation.
As I mentioned the scenes are part of classic stories over the past decade that have been edited to bring the first ever Pooh musical with the words offered on the screen to assist the beginning reader. Pooh and friends dance and bounce around on musical notes, trees and clouds. They learn together how to find a song making music along the way. This video would be suitable for toddlers, preschoolers and those under age seven for fun times in the winter and all year long. We know most of the words to the songs and enjoy the antics of the characters hopping to the tunes.
