okay..but needs improvement
Date of Review: Nov 10, 2000
I own this vacuum and recently replaced it with a Kirby. I like the ease of use when it's used as an upright because it has edge cleaning, but I don't think there is enough give to the hide a hose, so therefore you don't get the benefit of the length of the hose when you are using the attachments. When you are using the hose for cleaning tasks that are not right next to the vacuum cleaner (high places, reaching, etc) the upright usually falls over, and that generally ends up being another MESS. The attachments on the back don't stay on as they should so they always end up on the floor where the vacuum cleaner is stored. I had problems with a clog and called Dirt Devil's customer service and they helped me to clear the clog, they are very responsive and knowledgeable. The belt is NOT as easy to replace as it is on my Kirby, in fact, it's difficult and cumbersome. I don't think I would buy this one again even though I love the ease of use, edge cleaning, and the on board attachments (easier to clean with overall then my Kirby because you can go from vacuuming to dusting with ease without disassembling anything). I would buy something similar that didn't have the swivel wheels because it is frustrating when it falls over all the time.
