Author's Review
My then 11 year old daughter asked for this item for Christmas last year! Who could refuse such a request??? Ever since she was little she's been fascinated by vacuum cleaners, and pink. So when she spied the pink Dirt Devil Kone, it was a match made in heaven.
I bought hers in December 2006 at Target.com for 39.99 and free shipping. I really didn't even check out the reviews because it was on her list, and it was a good price point. I was anxious to see how effective it was though and was pleasantly surprised that this little Kone has some might.
Here are the facts:
The Dirt Devil KONE is a cordless hand held vacuum cleaner unlike any you've seen. Dirt Devil had famed product designer Karim Rashid create an elegant, sculptural form that can be left on display - on your table, shelf, or counter. The cone shape means that the vac is always stored in its base, so your hand vac will always be charged. Always ready. No more searching a closet only to find an unplugged unit. KONE. It's the new shape of clean.
Notable Features:
Available in multiple fun color options

Plum
Champagne
Pink
KONE features a soft-glow light in the charging cradle that can be turned on and off
Easy-to-empty bagless dirt cup
Powerful 7.2 volt motor
Comes with manufacturer's 3-year warranty.
OUR EXPERIENCE
The Dirt Devil KONE Cordless Hand Vac really does deliver. I have Cherry hardwood floors in my foyer, kitchen, and breakfast room. I also have 2 kids, a cat, and dog. Needless to say, there is quite a lot of debris and dust generated and the hardwood floors expose it all! It drives me crazy to see it.
So, my husband installed a cordless vac on a wall in my laundry room so that I didn't have to pull out the big vacuum everytime I was about to have a meltdown over the floors. But it was ugly and kept getting bumped. So after testing my daughter's Kone, I purchased another in PLUM for my laundry room.
It takes up relatively little space due to the handy design and doesn't need to be wall mounted. It picks up debris like a charm and it's simple to pull it apart to empty the dirt cup. It does suck up quite a bit, so the ease of emptying the dirt cup is a key benefit.
The pink and plum are nice subtle shades with a pearly finish. It's so convenient too! I was so happy with the Plum addition, that I decided to buy a third Kone in Champagne which is plugged into an outlet in my bedroom's walk in closet. The Champagne matches my carpet and I love being able to tidy up the space with such ease. It's also great because it's only steps away from my master bath which is a tiled floor, also known as a magnet for hair and a haven for dust bunnies.
It's great for in between cleanings. It's convenient, effective, inexpensive, easy to use! The Kone has also proven to be durable. We have three which are now over a year old, still working without any problems, and I must admit to dropping it on occasion! A great value which I highly recommend.
