Author's Review

Let me just say one thing about this game, it made me excited and happy throughout the entire game. From the start there was action, glorious FMVs, and millions of dinos trying to clobber me(which by the way Dino 1 never seemed to have enough dinos for my taste). Though the game runs short, it is definitly a great run. It never pauses or panters while going through the many terrains, the game stays simple and straight to the point. The game stays with Regina from the original DC and pretty much throws the rest of the first game away. You switch between Regina and Dylan to conquer the new third-energy world created by accident.

So let's start with graphics. I think the Playstation is pushing itself with the FMVs because I almost thought i was playing a dreamcast or something. Though the regular in-game scenes arent nearly as bright as the FMV, they are still full of nice effects, like the T-rex walking in the backround, and the many scurrying mini-dinos. Along with the sweet jungle backrounds and nice dino skins, the graphics are great. The only wish i had about them is that I wanted the characters to look more life-like while in-game, but i guess i was expecting too much.

Hmmmm I guess gameplay is next. This is where DC2 truly shines because it is actually action based for fighting dinos. The old DC engine seemed too mechanical and made it impossible to avoid blows. Now, Regina(or Dylan) can run while they attack and dogde relatively well too. Each time a dino is killed, you recieve points for the kill in order to buy ammo, weapons, and health. This makes the whole searching for ammo thing dead. Which many people would hate, i think if I'm blasting raptors away, i shouldnt have to worry if i'm going to run out of ammo or not, i want to kill it with ease. Overall I think the gameplay makes this game truly unique and fun.

I dont think I could ever have a game with perfect sound effects or music. I'm not even sure I know what perfect sound is... but this game creates a mood, keeps it, and indulges it with music fit for all surroundings and enviroments. The dino cries as with Regina's are all realistic and the voice is on par with any game I've played. The game never make you cry from emotional music, nor scares you... but it occasionally rises your adrenaline. So I guess this game has some nice sound effects, and many tracks to keep any gamer entertained.

This game does not set out to make you scared to sleep, nor happy enough to bounce off the walls, but it does set out to be an action-filled, dino-fighting, pulsating adventure. It wins this with ease, and even adds some humor for the bored types out there. For the story-only lovers out there, this game enertains that area well too. It's filled with plot twists, car chases, and even a sad moment at the end. This game has something for everyone, and is actually fun enough to want to play a second time, and any game worth playing twice deserves a five star rating.
