Rebel XT is worth the time and money

by   rd_in_sc ,  Apr 15, 2006
Pros: Fast startup, autofocus, writing, downloading; small for dSLR, decent low lighting performance
Cons: some of the controls, features and menu layout are not intuitive
The Bottom Line: If photography is becoming a hobby for you -- this is a great choice. Some Pros and beginners will find it lacking for various reasons.
Review: For the past two years I have enjoyed using the Canon A80. I think that was a great camera but the last 6 months I have really been bothered by its limitations. The camera can be slow to focus indoors and that did not really bother me when my son was ...

Second time's the charm, in more ways than one.

by   dbirchall ,  Jun 25, 2005
Pros: Incredible resolution, decent speed, reasonable price. Many improvements over original Digital Rebel.
Cons: Continuous drive/timer button is easily bumped. Battery door feels a little lightweight.
The Bottom Line: Any camera that's better than the Rebel XT in meaningful ways probably costs twice as much, so the Rebel XT is the entry-level digital SLR to beat.
Review: When Canon introduced the original Digital Rebel (aka EOS-300D), I was pleased to see the price of DSLRs marching downward, but I wasn't in a position to buy one. Furthermore, I was really holding out for 8 megapixels, having once been asked by a ...

Don't look at the XT/350D as a dated sibling to the XTi/400D

by   tjapkesg ,  Jan 24, 2008
Pros: Great camera, great price, great pics, huge selection of Canon and 3rd party lenses
Cons: Slower 7-point auto focus system.
The Bottom Line: Fantastic camera for anybody looking for an entry level SLR. Take the cash saved and put it towards better lens or lenses.
Review: Although many may assume that the latest and greatest would be the preferred route to take, don't immediately dismiss the Rebel XT 350D. This is a wonderful camera with terrific prices anywhere you look. The 400D is equally awesome, but consider the ...

Giant leap for the Canon D - Rebel 350D

by   corrado444 ,  Aug 2, 2006
Pros: Price, features, rear curtain sync, image quality, wake up feature
Cons: Feels a bit small, body construction a bit flimsy
The Bottom Line: Giant leap from older Rebel 300D, very nice features, great pictures, great interface
Review: I bought the original Canon Digital Rebel (300D) almost the same month it came out. I was extremely happy with it and I made many wonderful photos with the camera. Alas, one night my home was burglarized and I found myself without a camera. After ...

the best buy!

by   mdavi149 ,  Aug 17, 2008
Pros: easy to use, great quality
Cons: hard to use in the dark, shutter sound
The Bottom Line: Out of camera's, this will be your best investment!
Review: I lived with taking pictures with my canon powershot for about two and a half years and I was really looking into getting a professionals camera. I was torn between which one I should get: a nikon or canon. After researching and asking around, I chose ...

Picture Brick

by   stone-saint ,  Apr 19, 2008
Pros: Picture quality, durability, ease of use.
Cons: cost
The Bottom Line: If your point and click doesn't do it for you and you want something more, seriously consider getting this camera.
Review: Just to give you a little background, I'm not a professional photographer, or even a "photo enthusiast," matter of fact, if you start talking about what settings you used to get some effect on some picture, my eyes will glaze over, and I could very ...

Recommend the Rebel XT

by   blb1822 ,  Mar 12, 2007
Pros: Great results! Price. Ease of use.
Cons: A little small for some people.
The Bottom Line: Recommended for the beginner and serious amateur.
Review: I have always purchased Canon products. In the past I have owned 35mm slrs: T50, AE-1, Elan 7e and maybe some others. I find Canon superior to similar Nikon products. The Rebel XT was my first digital SLR. I purchased a factory reconditioned model ...

Love This Camera

by   texamydawn ,  Aug 1, 2008
Pros: Light weight, long battery life, great quality
Cons: size, awkward to handle at first
The Bottom Line: I LOVE THIS CAMERA
Review: My hubby purchased this camera for me right after our dear daughter was born as a Christmas present. We had done a lot of research on different camera’s from point and shoot to dSLR. At the time this Camera was a little pricier than it is now, but we ...

Digital Rebel XT

by   nlipscy ,  Jan 25, 2006
Pros: Easy to pick up without prior SLR experience. Great battery life when not using flash.
Cons: Body could be more solid.
Review: This was my first dSLR. I love it. If you want a camera to take pictures in good light and to carry everywhere, you'll be much happier with a point-and-click digicam. However, if you want to great pictures in almost any light without a flash, freeze ...

Awesome Camera

by   lorimike4 ,  Jul 27, 2006
Pros: Best pics, lots of extras
Cons: Heavy and expensive

Pros: Many options for auto & mauel setting and lens's
Cons: Plastic body

Review: After just over two years of owning a Canon XT I don't think I could go back to a point and shoot digital. The cost was the main thing holding me back at the start but now I know I could not have archived the pictures I have gotten with any thing...
