Heavy duty router meant for a table but...

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2001
The Bottom Line: It's too big to be a primary hand router. But it doesn't make the best table router, either.
Review: After I outgrew my little 1 3/4 hp Ryobi plunge router (see my review, if you'd like), I decided to go for a heftier router, with the intention of it spending more time in a router table than out. I wanted 3 or more hp, so I wouldn't outgrow the...

It could easily be better

Date of Review:  Apr 9, 2003
The Bottom Line: For certain applications it works very well. For others it won't. If you are working within its envelope it is excellent, just remember that it is a limited envelope.
Review: This is a large machine and I only use mine in a router table. I have removed the springs per my table's instructions and I have no problems with the smoothness of its travel. The variable speed, high horsepower and smooth start are essential for...

Big power, no finesse

Date of Review:  Nov 12, 2000
Review: I bought this router to use as an all around router. It had gotten good reviews in woodworking magazines, but you just don't know what you got till you get it. This router is not meant for router tables. The base only has a 2.5in opening so forget...

It's good if you need that much router.

Date of Review:  Jan 20, 2002
The Bottom Line: I would probably buy it again. It do have power, and that bright yellow color makes it easy to spot on the shop shelf.
Review: It is a brute, even with the soft start, sometimes you have to hang on to this thing. The DW 621 would have been a better buy for 90% of my needs, at $100 less. I replaced the quick nut adjuster twice before replacing it with an after market item...

DeWalt 625 great in table

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2000
Review: I first saw the DeWalt 625 used in a router table in the Oak Park demos at shows in Calgary and Edmonton. It is perfect for this application. I purchased one and have no regrets (although I have kept my older and lighter Rockwell around for quick...

Not Happy with the Collet

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2004
Review: i bought this beast to cut mortises in pressure treated 4x4's for fence post. It is heavy but worked very well.

Problem is that I stripped the collet. Probably my fault, but the threads are small and i think it's easy to strip.
