Excellent Universal player.

by   cmdr ,  Oct 18, 2004
Pros: Does everything so right.
Cons: Complicated for the casual user. Seem's pricey until you use it and see why.
The Bottom Line: With HD-DVD just around the corner this is probably the best mid-range universal we're ever likely to see.
Review: Unlike the first reviewer, I only have good things to say about this unit. My first universal was Samsung's DVD-HD841. Now that did have problems. The picture quality was ok but DVD-Audio discs and SACDs kept cutting out while playing. I didn't really ...

Denon DVD-2910s – Superb DVD Player for its price

by   aban123 ,  Jul 5, 2005
Pros: Solid Audio features. Plays almost all formats. Solid Video features. Plays almost all formats.
Cons: So far none.
The Bottom Line: Go for it and it would not disappoint you.
Review: I have purchased the silver color version of this DVD player in March 2005. The link for Denon Website is http://www.usa.denon.com/catal og/products.asp?l=1&c=4#PID764 . So far there is no complain and actually I love this player. It is one of the bes...

Fabulous picture

by   seatoller ,  Mar 9, 2005
Pros: Sensational pictures, top quality build, nice sound.
Cons: None as yet, but its early days.
Review: I had spent nearly 6 months monitoring the market for audio visual equipment for a new home cinema system. After viewing a number of DVD players I took the plunge for the Denon 2910. I had it up a running for 2 weeks now and I'm delighted with my ...

Before Buying, you PROBABLY will want to read this

by   db1162 ,  Oct 16, 2004
Pros: CDs sound like DVD-A and SACD discs!, Multiformat Player, Build Quality and Appearance
Cons: Mediocre Video Quality, Slow response time, Possible SACD problem, Doesn't play DIVX discs
The Bottom Line: Want a musical DVD player. This is it, with some reservations.
Review: I have to say, this is perhaps one of the oddest DVD players I have ever owned...as inspiring as it is frustrating. Thinking of buying it, then read on. AUDIO First, lets take the audio performance. DVD / CD / DVD-A / ...

Good picture, irritating user interface. Possible sound sync problem.

by   nhunt ,  Mar 30, 2005
Pros: Great picture.
Cons: Possible sound sync problem - 200mS delay. Aspect ratio control buried.
The Bottom Line: Not worth the premium price unless the sound-sync problem can be fixed. Get the Samsung 841, or perhaps the 941.
Review: My third upsampling DVD player for review. See also Samsung 841 (h ttp://www.epinions.com/content _178440343172), and Toshiba 5970 (h ttp://www.epinions.com/content _178440736388). ...

Potential Problem w/ SACD of DVD-2910

by   aak0640 ,  Feb 13, 2006
Pros: Impressive sound quality in 2 channel
Cons: Problem w/ playing SACD.
The Bottom Line: As mentioned earlier, before buying make sure the SACD playback works, if that is important to you.
Review: I purchased a DVD-2910 a couple of months ago. I was impressed w/ the build and the audio quality of the unit as noted by the other reviewers. However, I was disappointed at the SACD performance of the unit. I connected the player to a Denon AVR-3807 via ...

sacd fanciers should audition carefully

by   poule ,  Jan 10, 2005
Pros: I could have lived with the picture I got (component output)
Cons: Two samples had noise on sacd
Review: I wanted a dvd player that could also function as a back-up sacd player for my older high end Sony player. The Denon produced a very smooth and subtle image from dvds, and at first seemed to do audio well in all formats. But I soon started to note that ...

Does it all-but all mediocre!

by   bjmiller48 ,  Nov 22, 2004
Pros: Does it all, with no real problems.
Cons: Very Honda-like. Nothing bad, and everything fine, but nothing excellent, except maybe the DVD Audio.
The Bottom Line: Want a universal player with every possible feature, this is on the list.If you are searching for that excellent jaw dropping picture, even upconverted, you will be disappointed.
Review: Video: Agree with the other reviewer that the DVD picture is very uninspiring. No better than my Technics DVD-A10 or Sony NS700. I was VERY disappointed that the DVI to DVI picture was no better than the component connection, and worst of all, ...

Defective!

by   roderickdp ,  Jun 28, 2005
Pros: none
Cons: My last experience with Denon or DBUYS.
Review: New Denon 2910 DVD player defective out of the box. Plays all DVDs for 10-90 seconds and skips back to the opening menu. Purchased from DBUYS who will not replace. ...
