1600 is a great buy

Date of Review: Aug 17, 2002

The Bottom Line:  Buy it. A great progressive scan player with no chroma bug under $500.
I tend not to buy things quickly, and my new dvd is no exception. I was initially looked hard at the 2800, but after much research, I thought the 1600 was a better purchase. The 1600 is a progressive scan, with an excellent picture ( and NO chroma bug!!!!! . The sound is pure Denon quality, and integrates well with my AVR 3300. It has a few of the bells & whistles of the higher priced models, but really, the average person doesn't use them anyways. The remote is kind of a poor layout, as most people think, but I use my universal anyways. Overall, in my opinion, the absolute best progressive scan under $1500, and as a bonus it only costs less than $500.

Pros
Excellent picture, great price for the quality
Cons
Needs a heavier chassis like the 2800, slow in the initial read
